Objectives and origins of the project
Prince of Songkhla University, Surat Thani Campus is committed to promoting quality growth for Thai youth, both physically and mentally, and through life skills through football, a sport full of value and creative energy. In recent years, especially, youth in southern Thailand have seen significant improvement in their football skills, thanks to an environment conducive to training and playing sports.
For this reason, we want to provide Thai youth with the opportunity to experience competing with young players from abroad in an atmosphere filled with friendship and learning, so that they can envision a future filled with dreams through this great sport.
Project goals This project was born out of a true intention to
• Bringing joy to children in southern Thailand • Fostering friendships between Thai and international youth through football • Promote the physical, mental, and spiritual growth of youth. • Inspire youth to dream and dare to compete in international football. • Elevate Surat Thani Province as the center of youth football in the South.
Reasons for choosing “SURAT THANI”
Surat Thani Province boasts outstanding geographical features and climate suitable for sports, especially in the summer when many areas face problems caused by global warming. Surat Thani still has a cool climate and is surrounded by abundant nature, making it ideal for outdoor activities.
Surat Thani is also a convenient province to travel to, accessible by train, plane, and bus. It has also been a familiar training ground for Thai athletes for many years, so we see the potential of this area to develop into a regional youth football hub. Competition this December
As a first step towards this goal, we are organizing a regional youth football tournament this August, with 16 teams participating, in a collaboration between the public, private and international organizations, with the aim of making this event • Promote sports among youth • Incentivize youth to practice and develop their skills • Stimulate tourism and local economies • Create sustainable international cooperation networks through football
Bridge to international football
One of the highlights of this year is inviting youth teams from abroad to compete in the competition, to raise the level of competition to an international level. We sincerely hope that this competition will be “Bridge connecting dreams” for children in the South to have the opportunity to step onto the world football stage. This activity not only helps develop today's youth, but also lays the foundation for a brighter future for Thai youth through growth both on and off the football field.
